1981 Number 2 Hits

Was this the strongest year of the decade?  That bloody awful Joe Dolce apart, there really isn't a weak number one this year.  So it's no surprise that Adam & The Ants, Kim Wilde and Altered Images were denied their time on the top of the charts.  And, for good measure, I'm glad that the record buying public in the UK saw sense after they had allowed the novelty Australian act to prevent Ultravox from reaching the top spot.  Still, it amazes me how on earth rehashed dross like (bloody) Starsound and (God forbid) The Tweets could have got so high as to have made it to number 2...
