After a day at school the snow was all gone. How unfair is that?! Honestly, the gods of meteorology did not smile kindly upon us this day.
I noted that Liverpool would play Queens Park Rangers in the Milk Cup semi-finals after QPR had beaten Chelsea the previous evening. I was most disgusted that the next instalment of BlackAdder II would have to wait until next week because of Crimewatch. How dare they?
Thursday 6 February 1986
It was very, very, very cold today. The nights may be been getting shorter, but boy was it cold. We were warmed by another installment of BlackAdder II on BBC1 in the evening. We were starting to get in the thick of it wrt exams. Today for example, we received the dates for our German exams. And I had an essay to write on the German School system. If I remember, we had at least two essays to write and learn for the exam. The examiner would pick one at random in the exam, we'd recite it and then answer questions on it. In German, obviously. Doh!

A busy day today. I posted my Valentine's Card 1st class this morning. Will it be reciprocated? Watch this space. BlackAdder II was on this evening - no comment as to which episode, but obviously, it was funny.
I received some hassle regarding the football result from the night before, but as I pointed out, they all knew where the second leg was to be played. It was very, very cold again, although the sun did shine.

And so the big day dawned. Did I get many cards? Did I get any cards? Can you guess? I don't want to talk about it, ok. I managed to complete my German essay, on the German School System. It was another cold day - we had some snow at home, although there was none at school.
In other news, the boiler packed in at school, so it was bl**dy cold in there. But being the brave little soldiers that we were (still are!) we just got on with it. I think that we may have sat in Chemistry or Physics with the Bunsen burners going.
Sorry to go on, but I got no bloody Valentine's cards. Just in case you didn't manage to guess the right answer - probably in common with a very large number of my male cohorts if truth be known! Come on now guys, level with me. But anyway, things weren't all that bad, for tomorrow we had another game of football planned... What was it that Norm said in Cheers? Something along the lines of 'Chicks eh? Can't live with 'em... pass the beer nuts.'

No let up from the cold weather today. So much so that the FA Cup tie that was due to be televised, Spurs v Everton was postponed. I collected £112 from my newspaper customers. TV was dead boring and as we were on the cusp of half term I noted that I hoped to go up to school and play football during the week.

It snowed this morning. It was a really cold winter, the likes of which we've not had in ages. Now i don't know about global warming, you know whether or not there is anything in it or not. However, I am guessing that something's amiss out there. Anyway, it were right cold that winter of 1985 / 86.
In other news, I report that my poster of a scantily clad young lady fell off the wall at 3 o'clock. Bl**dy blu-tak ain't always exactly what it's cracked up to be eh? This poster once took the full bast of a spot that I had on the side of my nose. She was on the wall next to (could have said adjacent) the desk in my bedroom where I did my home work / played on the C64. Anyway, I was sat there, absent mindedly fiddling with this great big zit, when I must have got it just right and SPLAT! There it was. NOTHING is more satisfying than squeezing a good spot, I'm sure you'll agree.
I managed to do some of my homework - another English essay out of the way. However there's no peace for the wicked, so I was straight onto another one! BlackAdder II was on again, one word, 'brill.'
Sunday 6 April 1986
Ha ha! Sarcasm, the lowest form of wit. I report a 'beautiful day - except for the wind, rain, sleet, snow and cold!' Liverpool v Southampton from yesterday was on television, as was Spitting Image. Erm... that is all.

Oh dear, we had thought that Spring had sprung, but according to today's entry, it was an 'utter b*****d of a day'. It was wet and windy, and surprise surprise, there was nothing at all to do. I was frustrated by the fire, which I could not get to light, well not until I had put three firelighters on it. Why, there wasn't even much on the telly. Boo and indeed, hoo.
No homework or revision reported, I should have been doing some Physics.
Wednesday 9 April 1986
Oh no. Another 'boring' day. Again, I played Football Manager on the C64. I also went to the library, and amongst all those books I was still bored.
At least Man Utd could offer us some entertainment as they lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea this evening.
And over on Channel 4 we had some seminal 1980's TV, Prospects. Following the adventures of Jimmy 'Pincey' Pince, played by the late great Gary Olsen and Billy, played by Brian Bovell, Prospects was a cult hit for Channel 4 - one of the programmes that only Channel 4 could make.
The sun sets on the Thames, another day comes to an end...
Friday 11 April 1986
At last I had finished (surely phinished) my Physics homework. I noted also that I had better start my Chemistry homework 'or else' - remember, back to school on Monday, that's only a weekend away. It was 'nearly a nice day up till dinner'.
I then went on to complain about somebody, let's call him Teddy. Apparently he was here all day, and 'Gordon Bennet he's a...' Mmm, spurious to say the least. But anyway, at least Auf Widersehen Pet was on again and this week it was 'grate'.
