She was the love interest for Harrison Ford's Han Solo. She was the dream girl for any boy watching the film, she was also Darth Vader's daughter, but anyway... It's difficult to conceive that an 80's themed party wouldn't feature at least one person dressed as Princess Leia - and I don't mean the Hungarian Princess who married the Black Adder. That's a different story, ok.

Dangermouse
This was very very grown up stuff for what was supposed to be a kids cartoon. However, I got it then and get it now and to be fair, my own kids do too. So it works on all levels. Try imagining getting togged up in a Dangermouse suit for an 80's party. Can you see yourself? Go on, get a good mental picture. I think that you'd look cool as. Or if your budget's a bit tight, why not go for a mask - either Dangermouse or Penfold. You might have to look a bit further for a Baron Greenback or one of his cronies, but I'm sure they're out there.

Is this the coolest set of films from the 80's? I'd say it's hard to beat, and if can be beaten, then it's Star Wars that beats it, so Harrison Ford wins on both counts! Or Bladerunner... Anyway, enough about Harrison Ford, picking up an Indian Jones suit - whip, fedora, satchel and the clothes would make you the coolest dude at the party. The scar on your chin is optional.

Ghostbusters
I think that after Back To The Future this has got to be my favourite film from the 80's. It was the first one that I went to the pictures on my own - you know, with a friend, not my mum. Anyway enough reminiscing, this is supposed to be about what you could wear for an 80s fancy dress party.
You must know the Ghostbusters look, light brown overalls, plus some kind of back-pack and a gun-type-thingy. Or you could dress up in green and go as Slimer, or perhaps even tog yourself up as an 80's secretary type and go as Janine (Melnitz). Then there's either Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) or Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). If you then think about all the other films associated with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd(!), Harold Ramis, Weaver or Moranis the scope is amazing. Have fun!

Not only was Madonna the queen of 80's pop, she was also a style and fashion icon. So when there's an 80's party in the offing, it's no surprise that Madonna outfits are in high demand. Every girl wanted to look like her then and what better way to dance the night away than wearing a Madonna outfit. When you think of Madonna in the 80's, you see the large hooped earrings, the bleached blonde hair with roots unashamedly showing and tied in a ginormous bow, fingerless lace gloves and just loads and loads of bling. Freddie Mercury
Although Queen date from the 70s originally, and perhaps Bohemian Rhapsody is their best known single release, they are at least as much a part of the 80's as any other band you could think of. Therefore, a Freddie Mercury outfit or a Brian May wig may be well worth wearing to an 80s themed or 80s fancy dress party.
