Ah! One of the joys of childhood in Central/South Shropshire! Wimberrry picking on the Stipperstones. Known the world over by the name Bilberries these purple berries, found on low-growing shrubs in the genus Vaccinium (family Ericaceae), were extremely easy to pick once you'd walked far enough. They taste fantastic in a short crust pastry with custard! Apparently today I picked a few less than a margarine tub! - a big one!!
