Some time previously, I had decided that I wanted to give up my paper round today. I had made my feelings on this subject known to my diary by writing a note to that effect. By the time we had arrived at the appointed date, i.e. today, I had done nothing about it, save do some thinking about finding myself a Saturday job. Accordingly, I had scrubbed out the words Last Day of Paper Round and written NO CHANCE next to it.
In concert with my brother and a couple of others, I did some more thinking today, about the possibility of some of us lads going camping - £25 each for 6 of us. We'd even identified where we'd go.
