Red hot favourites, current holders and let's face it reigning and soon to be this season's European Champions, Nottingham Forest were a shoe-in for the League Cup in 1980.
But, no. Wolves and their bubble permed striker Andy Gray gave that idea short shrift. Forest hammered and hammered on the Wolves goal, but to no avail. On 67 minutes Gray bundled the ball home after a shocking mix up between Shilton and Needham from Peter Daniel's hopeful punt upfield.
Despite Forest's best efforts, it was probably the men from Molineux who came closest to scoring again, with George Berry hitting the woodwork. In the end Wolves hung on to see Captain Emlyn Hughes complete his personal set of domestic football trophies.
